JIM CORBETT NATIONAL PARK
The Jim Corbett National Park, which forms part of the larger Corbett Tiger Reserve, is located in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand. The park is renowned for its magical landscape and its abundance of tigers. Established in 1936 as Hailey National Park, Corbett is India's oldest and most prestigious national park. It is also the place where Project Tiger was first launched in 1973, making it a unique tiger territory and the father of the initiative to protect the most endangered species and the Royal of India called Tigers.
Covering an area of 520 square kilometres, the park comprises hills, marshy depressions, riverine belts, grasslands and a large lake. It is one of the few tiger reserves in India that allows overnight stays within the park. Nature watching and wildlife viewing are conducted in open four-wheeler jeeps and on elephant back. The park is home to a healthy population of tigers and rare species such as otters and the endemic fish-eating crocodile, making it a popular destination for wildlife enthusiasts. Dhikala, located at the border of the extensive Patil Dun valley, is the most sought-after destination in Corbett due to its superb location and abundance of wildlife.
For birdwatchers, Corbett is a virtual haven. The park and its surrounding areas are home to more than 650 species of resident and migratory birds. Dhikala is a particularly fine place to look for birds of prey, with over 50 species of raptors alone demonstrating the area's healthy biodiversity. Their multiplex behaviour is intriguing, and their varied songs are pleasing to the ear. In summary, this finest national park of India is renowned for its rich and varied wildlife, including the Royal Bengal tiger, elephant, four to five species of deer, and rich birdlife.

These designated areas serve as the buffer or core regions of the park, providing visitors with the opportunity to partake in wildlife safaris and witness the captivating behaviors of the animals up close and personal.

How To Reach Corbett
Ramnagar serves as the most optimal gateway to the Corbett National Park, serving as the headquarters of CTR. Upon arrival in Ramnagar, it merely takes half an hour to reach the Corbett National Park, which is approximately 15 kilometers away from the town's railway station.
For those traveling by road, Ramnagar benefits from a well-developed network of roads that connect it to various cities. The Corbett National Park is located at an approximate distance of 260 kilometers from India's capital, Delhi. The state government of Uttarakhand operates buses at regular intervals from Delhi, Moradabad, Haldwani, and Nainital, providing direct transportation to Corbett.
Travelers opting for rail transport can conveniently reach Ramnagar via its railway station, which receives trains from major cities such as Delhi, Moradabad, and Bareilly. A direct train from Delhi to Ramnagar is available, with options including the Ranikhet Express, Corbett Link Express, and Kathgodam Express, all of which offer direct access to Ramnagar.
